Your Slippery Body: from between my fingers
Solo Exhibition by artist Ghislaine Fremaux
From the artist: In this work, I undertake a seeing of bodies that is ethical and visceral at once. My process prioritizes consent and agency; my subjects must invite me to work with them, and are given no instruction. I am concerned with the intersubjective beholding, fathoming, and loving of the body, which I experience as enigmatic and overwhelming. Using the interrogative properties of drawing, the precarity of chalk, and paper as a proxy for skin, I testify to this encounter in huge, intensely physical drawings, submerged in glossy resin.
